How to use this map
Every pin type is its own layer — tap a chip above the map to show or hide it. Start with Entrances, Visitor Centers, and Grand Loop Junctions to get oriented, then turn on Camping or Lodging to see how close a place actually is to where you'll spend your days. Trailheads and Parks & Visitor Info are off by default since Yellowstone has dozens of each — flip them on once you've narrowed things down.

Does this map show the actual trails, or just pins?
Right now it plots trailheads, listings, and park infrastructure as pins — not the literal trail line on the ground. Real trail-line overlays are on our roadmap as we backfill trail geometry for more hikes.
Is the Grand Loop Road line on the map the real road?
It connects the loop's 8 major junctions in order so you can see the sequence, but it's a straight-line approximation, not a traced road. For the actual route, use the Grand Loop Road Trip Planner or nps.gov/yell.
Why are hiking and parks layers off by default?
Yellowstone has dozens of trailheads and park-info listings — showing every layer at once on load gets cluttered fast. Tap a layer's chip above the map to turn it on.
Can I use this to plan where to stay?
Yes — turn on Lodging and/or Camping and compare pins against the entrances and Grand Loop junctions to judge how close (or far) a property really is from where you'll spend your day.
